This cowl was woven through a freestyle technique called "SAORI" on a Japanese SAORI loom. SAORI is a method of weaving which focuses on free expression and self innovation. In SAORI, weaving becomes a form of art. Each SAORI piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. Because this piece is freeform and different in color and pattern from one end to the other, it can look very different depending on how you wear it✨ See photos for styling ideas!

Due to it's loosely handwoven structure, small blemishes are a natural part of the creative process and are often intentional! Please treat loose fibers with care and enjoy them as a part of the creative wearable piece of art!

I created this cowl as an exploration of color through weaving and the use of diverse textures in an evolving palette. I also love play between negative and positive space. The resulting piece is calming yet complex.

I made this piece out of sustainable materials including recycled yarns and forgotten remnants.
